PARIS. In October 2009, around 6000 immigrant workers started a strike in order to obtain their residence permit. Face to government inaction, in June 2010, the group of immigrants occupied the famous Parisian touristic site of “Place de la Bastille”. For 20 days they led their struggle, in exchange they got government promise to reexamine their dossiers and its immigration policies. As the government did not keep its promise, in October 2010 they decided to occupy another symbolic place: the Immigration Museum. These pictures show the beginning of their struggle.
